Emmanuel obtained his LLB (Hons) from the Singapore Management University (SMU) in 2012. He has been with our practice since 2011 under the mentorship of Trident Law's Principal, R. Thrumurgan (Thiru), first as an intern and then a trainee, before he was called to the Singapore Bar in 2013. Emmanuel's early exposure to the diverse areas of the firm's practice instilled in him a sense of determination and tenacity in his work - attributes which are of critical importance in the practice of law. Inspired by his mentor Thiru, Emmanuel hopes to display the same level of passion and dedication in his coming years of practice.
Involved in several notable criminal trials and appeals, Emmanuel is active with CLAS and has secured favourable outcomes for his clients. These cover a wide range of criminal cases-unlicensed moneylending, cheating, violent crimes, and sexual offences. He has also prepared comprehensive legal advice to both corporations and individuals in relation to complicated white collar matters.
Emmanuel’s civil and corporate experience includes the drafting of commercial documents, IP litigation and registrations, construction, administrative law matters, and employment matters. He is also well-versed in advising clients on corporate structuring, shareholder and partnership arrangements, as well as capital and asset management.
A significant part of Emmanuel’s practice pertains to regulatory and compliance matters for the firm’s corporate clients.
Emmanuel has advised clients from the financial sector on their investments and issues pertaining to, among other things, the Securities and Futures Act and the Financial Adviser’s Act. He is well-versed in a number of business-related regulatory matters and has advised and represented clients in their dealings with relevant regulatory bodies.
