Our client, a Singaporean, had his assets frozen by the Commercial Affairs Department (“CAD”) following allegations of criminal wrongdoing. The assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (“FBI”) had also been sought by the CAD pursuant to a request for assistance under the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act.

Our Mr. R. Thrumurgan led the Trident Law Criminal Defence Team in conducting a thorough review of the documentary evidence in an expedited fashion. Following further exhaustive interviews of relevant persons, we made representations to the CAD.

Following our representations, the CAD did not pursue the matter against our client and, instead, substantial monies of our client, that had been frozen on the CAD’s instructions, were released to our client.
