In yet another “first” for criminal lawyers in Singapore, Trident Law’s criminal law team secured the first and only acquittal in Singapore for a section 300(d) murder charge. Our client had been accused of assaulting the deceased in her office, rendering her unconscious. He was then alleged to have set fire to the office unit located at the Afro Asia Building in Singapore’s Central Business District. The deceased died from fire-resulted causes and our client was charged with murder.

By devoting substantial time and resources to understanding fire dynamics and other forensic issues in a fire-related incident, the Trident Law team led by our Mr. R. Thrumurgan convinced the High Court that the murder charge could not be sustained. Our client was acquitted of murder and convicted on a lower charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
